A Dream, Upon Waking Poem by Katrina Harms

A Dream, Upon Waking

Rating: 4.5

I will look upon you-
too smooth skin
like stone bearing gems beneath
I came to you uncleanly
I dream of sunrises in
warm wooden houses
I would have your
children, shine your shoes
Except the waking life
is entirely different
But the dream cannot be forgotten
And when I imagine you,
smooth like grain,
Clear-eyed, happy-
Do you remember it, too?
