A Face In My Dreams
I see your face in dreams at night
and wish I'd not awaken.
For the face I see with eyes so intent
are the eyes with which I'm taken.
They search for me and there I am
and then your smile appears.
It quickens my heart though I'm asleep
and takes away my fears
that I may not see your face again
for then I'd be lost at sea,
tossing around in turbulence
and sleeping fitfully.
Your face to me is one of love
that makes me come alive.
And though I'm sleeping, I'm dreaming
and praying my dream can survive.
