A Fairy Tale Never Told Poem by Khloe Chace

A Fairy Tale Never Told

Way back when, when we couldn't reach the cookie jar.
We climbed up trees with our skinned knees.
Never thought too far ahead.
Always set our heads on what we see.

Years later we'd chase each other
With the garden hose around the yard.
I fell for you so fast and offguard.
I couldn't tell the future of my very own heart.

You might as well worn a suit and tie.
I should have just worn a ballgown.
Could I have this dance? We could be the spotlight,
I waited for you all night.
You left me waiting in the cold...
We'll always be the best fairy tale never told.

The calenders piled up
And the clocks ticked out rime away.
My whole childhood became a foggy fantasy,
You and I on the swing a faint dream.
I know it's the past,
But these strings just need to be tied.

You might as well worn a suit and tie.
I should have just worn a ballgown.
Could I have this dance? We could be the spotlight,
I waited for you all night.
You left me waiting in the cold...
We'll always be the best fairy tale never told.

I hold time in my hands.
When you walk past me in the halls.
Have you ever taken a moment to then?
No...you'll never notice me again...

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My best friend, Nick, was the best friend I had. Once we hit middle school, he started being a jerk and ignoring everything and blocked me on facebook for no reason. But how everything was set up in the beginning, I always wonder how it would turn out. That's this song.
