I think the answer to the speaker's question is absolutely no. I think Poetry's goal is to gain perspective, maybe multiple perspectives on the world, our abnormalities, our souls. I think sometimes, ripping these seams open can be painful, even...drive us to insanity, if we let it. But, yes, poetry could also protect us, focus our eyes onto the beauty and away from what is ugly. So...after writing all this, I would say...maybe. Thanks Sandra! :)
