A Last Good Bye Poem by Juan Olivarez

A Last Good Bye

Rating: 5.0

Eyes are focused, somewhere else,
Ears no longer hear your words.
Mind tuned in to distant bells,
Or perhaps sweet singing of birds.
Perhaps focused on what lies beyond,
The man made things, and a distant sun.

Finally at ease with the world around,
Not one single hint of pain.
Benign smiles on lips that frowned,
As breath finally starts to wane.
No longer concerned with Earthly cares,
A long climb begins, on astral stairs.

Then a final light inside those eyes,
Knowingly falls on your face.
A last good bye from beyond the skies,
A guarantee of far happier days.
No more doubts and no more fears,
But you can't rejoice, through the flow of tears.
