Maire Llyod
struts her stuff
upon the stage.
it is the height of
music hall
and Victoria
& innuendo reigns.
Not only an indignant Queen
but others are not amused
when she sings:
'...she sits among
the cabbages and peas! '
When there is a public outcry
about how
and why and what she means
she condescends to change
and sings
instead:
'...she sits among
the cabbages & leeks! '
Charming...funny play on words...wonder what the public outcry these days is...oh, yeah, I forgot..Anything goes these days, and no one cares!

I would like to translate this poem
Indeed it does...indeed it does. Oh I love wordplay and playing with words. I love music hall and all that old guff. I shall now go and take a leek and some peas and see what I can do with them. Then it was the world of innuendo now it's more in yer face mate! As Mr. Porter says: 'In olden days a glimpse of stocking was looked on as something shocking now heaven knows...anything goes!
