A Lonely Cry Poem by Cheryl Branson

A Lonely Cry

She's sitting in the dark
Thinking as she crys
She's planning how to do it
Planning how to take her own life
Everyone thinks she's all better
But a secret she does hide
She's never felt more alone
Never had a lonlier cry
She's bleeding on the inside
But smiling on the out
She's a professional con-artist
For a while she'd conned herself
Into thinking her crys were over
And believing the bad days were gone
Hoping they could let the past go
Hoping she could finally move on
But it didn't take very long
For the lonely crys to come again
It didn't take very long for
The clouds to return and rains to begin
He came back in the picture
And she thought he'd remove the knives
But he only drove them in deeper
So lonely tears fall from her eyes
She knows she'll never be good enough
For him or anyone around
But she's afraid if she's honest
That a disappointment she'll be crowned
So she speeds through life
Just to get it over with
She trys not to care for him
Becaus she knows happiness is a myth
This girl loves that boy
And she can't say why
Doesn't she see the reality
He causes her lonely crys
She's curled up in a ball
Gaurding herself from their hate
Nobody knows how to reach out
They just remain to be fake
No shrink in the world can help her
Because they don't know who's at fault
But the happy girl is deep within her
Just locked up tighter than a security vault
She really wants to be happy
And more than anything be free
She wants to get him back
But she's too scared to believe
She doesn't know where her heart is
Or where to begin to look
That boy must have stolen it
But that's not all he took
He also took her smile
And soon after her laugh followed
He took all her feelings
Leaving her completely hollow
She's listening to sad love songs
Noticing they all end in good-bye
But she's not ready to let go
Of him or her lonely crys
Because she's one to know
That instead of nothing she'd rather cry
It gives her something to hold on to
Something reminding her she's still alive
She spends her nights dreaming
That she's laced in his arms
Dreaming that he'll protect her
From everyone elses harm
She's trying her hardest
To keep her straight face on
So no one will have to know
Where she started to go wrong
Because that's all they care about
That's all they want to know
No matter how much she wants to
She can't let her feelings show
She's told that he's her down fall
All she's doing is wasting her life
He's never gonna love you
You're wasting your time in strife
She tries to let him go
Because in her mind she's aware
That one day he'll want her
But she may not be standing there.
