A Loss Of Words Poem by joe c.

A Loss Of Words

Please listen to what I've to say,
With open ear and focused mind.
I've only a moment to confide;
I've wanted to say this for so long.

I wish I'd more time,
but no longer a second to call my own,
I mustn't make waste the moment,
I must seize it as our own.

And should this come off as acrimony,
I've made a grand mistake;
I meant for this to be kindly, caring, clever, sweet;
To see your cheeks flush crimson-
all I wanted was a smile, quite possibly your lovely kiss.

How I've longed for it so-
but I've not the mind to decipher the string of words,
that short sweet phrase men have searched for,
but never quite found.
So instead I'll say 'I love you',
and hope it's just the same.
