A Madrigal #4: 'Seems Just Yesterday'

Seems just yesterday, when we fought as kids
Then came puppy love, and I felt aghast
Waking up to find, sixteen came too fast;

With those curly lash and shades on your lids
How so different, I saw your eyes last
Seems just yesterday, when we fought as kids
Then came puppy love, and I felt aghast

So, goodbye to dolls, as your lipstick bids
Goodbye lollipops or pigtails of past
How sultry are looks that you now have cast
When just yesterday, we have fought as kids
Then came puppy love, and I felt aghast
Waking up to find, sixteen came too fast.

Poem of the Day

poet Alfred Lord Tennyson

It little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
