A Matter Of Life And Death Poem by Jennifer Romero

A Matter Of Life And Death

Rating: 5.0

This murky day,
A dreadful day,
One of mist and gloom,
Horror and doom.
The dark dead sky,
Celebrates the arrival of a new member,
Her father,
That’s who.
It’s his turn,
To look beyond what we can all see,
To see the other world,
To arrive at god’s gate,
Stand still and silent,
And await his fate.
It’s his turn to leave the horizon,
To leave the day,
And to leave his weeping daughter,
All alone.
Such a wretched thing death is,
Circling around like a cool breeze,
Causing an unearthly chill,
Crawling down your tingling spine,
With morbid news.
It creates malcontent souls,
And depressed lives,
It threatens the existence of all happy jives,
It’s the end of life, the end of mortality,
It brings a new and unwanted phase,
In what was once called the human life.
But above all this, there is something good.
That lost melancholy soul, has a finishing point,
That new spirit,
Will hopefully find peace,
And tranquility,
Behind the large golden bars,
Of the heavenly divine gate.
Will this be your fate?
