A Matter Of Perspective Poem by Lily Ives

A Matter Of Perspective

We want to change the world
So that we can leave our mark,
And to attain enlightenment
Because we are blind.
We want to win the lotto
So that we can buy more,
And to climb mount Everest
To prove that we can soar.
We want to journey across space
To discover the great unknown,
And to have more choices
So that we don't feel bored.
We profess world peace
And share our supportive tweets,
And believe that we know what's right
Because we are smart and just.
While the land starves from the drought,
And the fish are poisoned in the sea,
And the people beg on the streets,
And the animals disappear under our feet
