A Meditation
God has created me to do Him some definite service. He has committed some work
to me which He has not committed to another I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection
between persons. He has not created me for naught. I shall do good.
I shall do His work.
Newman is positive about why he is living: it is a religious reason. God has created him for a purpose, which is unique to him. He will be ' a link in a chain, a bond of connection/ between persons'. This Newman did in his life as an Anglican, then a Catholic priest. He influenced many people by his preaching and his books, which live on today.
