A Mother's Pain Poem by Marilyn Lott

A Mother's Pain

He died and everyone had such pain
Her sweet son had lost his fight
Surgery after surgery he had
But nothing could make things right.

I thought about the others
Who loved him just as much
Or did they? I don't think so
They didn't have his mother's touch.

No one except a mother could know
What it feels like to carry within
A sweet, beautiful baby
No matter if it's her or him.

Even when the cause of loss
There was no one that was to blame
Her heart is forever broken
For there's nothing like a mother's pain.
