A Musket, Original: Dipti Deori Borah, Translated By Rupa Phukon Saikia

A musket

What is this musket?
It is a Putana musket

In Suparnakha 's city

Both breast and nose felt ashamed

A heard of deer
The golden deer is knitting wool

Short dressed girls are accused
for their shamefaced

Lakshman can't run
Unknowingly many teenagers plunder
In Suparnakha 's city
Many guys keep their mind fixed that
Life is a night of bikini only

At present undergarments and sweats are
only an ancient narration

Strangely we mostly talk about the society And
throw the Putana musket to the weakers
when we come across them

Strangely we speak about to prevent the plastic
and again we cover our guilty by plastic condom

In Suparnakha 's city many adults who grab their age
keep their mind fixed that life is a youth only

Only needs for a costly bikini a lady can naked with an elderly person

Strange
Strange Putana
Strange Suparnakha

Had these situations in your days?

Hiroshima Putana
Nagasaki Suparnakha
A continuous battle is in mind

With red balloons Putana comes to Suparnakha 's city
Potato shopper looks at Putana
Two muskets are in his two eyes...

Hi Deepti, I came across your poems, by sheer accident today. Was very interested after reading the first one. Read all of them one after the other in one go. Marvellous... I read no Assamese. So missed out those posted in that language. Would love read more of your poems.

loved the translation.I have read the original one in Assamese, I know how difficult it is to translate the spirit, to translate the music within.
