A Need For Forgiveness Poem by Hannah Diane Williams

A Need For Forgiveness

They're left with so much pain,
From a burden deep
Within their souls...

See her,
Her daughter's dead,
She hates the man
Who killed her...

See her,
That's the gunman's wife,
Who had no clue
What he was going to do...

They both fall asleep at night
Crying,
Feeling like they're dying,
Wanting to cling on to someone,
Anyone at all...

It's just not fair,
The burden they're left to bear
All alone...

One needs to see
Past her hate...
And love with
All her heart.

The other needs to see
It wasn't her fault...
She couldn't control
What he was going to do.

None of it's fair,
None of it at all,
They need to forgive,
That doesn't mean forget...

They need each other
To lean on...
The peace they can't find
Is from a burden
Untouched within their hearts...

Forgiveness is the key,
If they just take
The blinding fold
Off their eyes,

So they will
Be able to see again...

And watch the brokenness,
The shattered remnants
Of their hearts,
Com together,
And form a friendship
No one can break.
