A NOBLE PRIZE FOR PEACE!
When the dove returned to Noah’s arch, -
With an olive branch in its beak,
Noah knew that the flood waters have begun
to recede!
The Dove remain as our symbol of Peace!
But now when we look up at the sky,
There are more hawks than doves flying up
high!
Yet there are many who work in anonymity,
For the sake of peace and to alleviate poverty,
Without any kind of publicity!
For long religious bigotry, cast and creed,
Have distanced us from that elusive peace, -
Spreading violence amongst our midst!
So now I sincerely do hope and pray,
That this Noble Prize for Peace shall one day,
Bringing that elusive peace on our way!
Despite what the ‘hawks’ might have to say!
With best wishes for President Obama on
this day!

Like water peace also has become scarce! A prize for promotion of peace is indeed a must!
I liked your expression 'hawks' there...another of the 'Eagle' variety...i believe Obama is only a humble receiver of this noble prize...a prize for winning peace is yet to be won...those who deserve will soon emerge up as you wish...good poem Raj...you tell a lot of truth inside there...thanks...10
Excellent poem Raj. I particularly enjoyed the symbolism of the olive leaf and the dove. If only we could follow the love of a dove's coo as nature doesn't fight unnecessarily. We must stand together and pray for peace..... than you Raj. 10 Karin
What Bob has said in his comment is absolutely right. This Nobel Prize for Obama is for things to come, not for the things he has done or achieved for the world’s peace. This is perhaps a new dimension of the Nobel Prize towards world's hopes and desires. Here rises a question, will there be a Nobel Prize for an expected great piece of write not actually written but outlined in the mind of a writer?
Raj, Obama has made a lot of promises and I to wish him well. A prize for things to come. Lets hope it can be done! ! A lot of truth in the words you have written may still stop his resolve. Our differences somehow do not allow us to share. A fine poem, warm regards Bob
Beautifully expressed. There are indeed many unsung peace makers in our world today. God knows their names. Praise for your graceful, eloquent pen. Always your friend, Sandra
