A Once 'was.' Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

A Once 'was.'

A once 'Was.'

Urmia, a known Great Lake,
Has lived with many names.

To me, she is a picture,
Reminds me of Roohi,
Also talks of others,
At the top sits Luther.

Once it was for tourists,
Water was medicine,
Many went swimming,
For fun and curing.

Now it is dead,
The wind howls,
No green, no deer,
‘No beauty' is there!

The Salton Sea, I've heard,
Has been almost the same!

Wonder if by nature!
Or by the humans?
