A Poet In Making Poem by Nitijita Mishra

A Poet In Making

Trying hard to place the words
In the right places
I want to be a poet..
Among the world of many new faces..

All day I read many poems
The agonies and pains and joys
Designed carefully together
To catch hold of the eyes..

I compare my poems with theirs
Then frustrated I say..
Mine are not poems..
They are just feelings
Randomly written
& nothing more! !

Sometimes I feel like my poems are awful and not worth reading but, I think poems are just thoughts and feelings written down in some random mix-matched order that sounds good.

Poetry is the most complex of all the Fine Arts...One can be a Poet Laureate, after 60 years of writing, and still capable of tapping more & maximizing certain skills that are superior but still can be improved on...Best advice is for you to read the Contemporary Poets as opposed to our Classic Poets...Shakespeare, Donne, Poe and Dickinson are the greatest...but they wrote from a far different genre and lingual style...I like the above work...It has solid structure & indicates that you have much to offer...Good Luck ~FjR~
