A Poor Man's Paradise (4) (Pea And Bean) Poem by U Win Kyi

A Poor Man's Paradise (4) (Pea And Bean)

Our father is a manual laborer wearing a patched jean,
torn and frayed at the seam,
working very hard and keen,
for his family without running out of steam,
in an environment dirty and unclean,
but his boss is selfish and mean.
His salary is thin and lean.
Our breakfast is usually boiled pea and bean.
Our lunch is usually fried pea and bean.
Our dinner is usually stewed pea and bean.
Mum buys vegetables at grocery of green.
For a long time, a meat dish we have not seen.
A poor nutrition is no good for us growing teens.
To a big restaurant, I have been,
not in real life, but in a dream.

Dad loves Mum as if she were a queen.
His love for her never weans.
To each other they never yell or scream.
He is a good captain of family team.
Our parents want us to become university dean.
In their prayer, they always ask the Supreme Being,
to bless us with hope which will gleam.

Pea and bean cause us bloated with wind,
which during the silent night, farts with a loud explosion..
