A Promise Poem by Suchitra Prabhakaran

A Promise

Rating: 5.0

A Promise to keep to you my Child
A sweet Promise from Me to You
As I am chained and writhing with pain
You would not know how it hurts when it hurts

Fear not My Precious Little one
For You I would carry the cauldron of Life
For a better tomorrow, a better Life
For this is only a passing Phase

As we brave the tempest
We might gather rubies and sapphires
The seafarers and the High-way men
They bow to us and steer off from our path

You be my Little Guiding Light
For We have to trudge the pits and the potholes
You be my Guiding Light
From the Quacks and the quakes along the path

Until then the cauldron shall I carry
As we pass past the Zombie-land and the Pagan Life
From then on, You carry the Legacy
Not to falter even a bit for Your Little Ones..
