A Quill

A Quill of peacock
That I have kept
At a side of my window
Slowly expressing the
Beauty in thought.

No, not my thought
To keep it inside
Or to make it a
Full quill pen
But the thought of
Almighty GOD
To give such
Beautifully designed
Dressing material
To a male creature.

poet Edgar Allan Poe

Kind solace in a dying hour!
Such, father, is not (now) my theme-
I will not madly deem that power
Of Earth may shrive me of the sin
