A Real Poor Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

I am real poor by any standard
I live in slum but look forward
I have television, refrigerator
Above and all air conditioner too

This is condition of mega city poor
You need little space to sleep on floor
Calcutta and Bombay cities are densely populated
Their position comparing to others are underrated

Slums are protected and given encouragement
They form cream part for vote arrangement
Many political parties canvass for their regularization
Many refugees from out side country to find easy for registration

Country is facing large influx of people illegally
They are posing security threat really
The ration card and voting rights are easily given
Their presence on our soil is forgiven

We do not mind people’s entry on humanitarian ground
They should be properly counted and found
Some of terrorist activities are taking place
Such people are taking part to destabilize

Country’s interest is really compromised
False words are given and promised
They take it granted and play in the part
For them taking an advantage is only smart move
