A Ship's Tale Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

A Ship's Tale

Rating: 5.0

His sea tale nearly disappeared with him
Without even the wake of a minnow's tail
Gone with him within that voyage
To the land of no-return

But the widow's plea proved even greater
Than the story of brothers of the sea
So confession he would make to her
As the midnight candle burned

The ghosts of shipmates stirred again
From the dark and watery grave
Men some stronger and braver than he
Yet only he returned

He told no tale of shipwreck or storms
Or of pirates preying upon a wayward ship
No this was no treasure story
As she was soon to learn

She heard of a ship trapped in a windless void
Brains frying under a relentlless sun
As minds in madness peaked and boiled
It was kill or never return

' He went to a land of no return.... Yet only he returned'! Quite intriguing and equally gripping! I I agree with Nosheen and Madathil!

Edmund, I wish you had given us a note of explanation. This reads eerie like I am lost in the Bermuda triangle. Or am I watching the X-Files? What is the mystery? A very gripping read that leaves the reader guessing. (10)

Hello Nair! Good to hear from you. A sea tale, mysterious and revealing the extent to which survival instincts and the brute will t o live can push a man under the merciless and scorching sun.

A very intriguing saga. Takes the readers back to the times of pirates. It's good to take a peek into the past now and again. Full of mystery, a tale that raises questions in reader's mind.
