A Simple Truth Poem by Michelle Hyde

It is a war with all of eternity that we find,
In the distance a small cry can be heard,
It calls out from the blind,
As it spreads its poisonous word,
This cry speaks the truth of all lies,
It screams what we don’t want to hear,
It comes from those that dies,
We shrink away from it in fear,
When all are different colors,
We can not hear it calling,
It teaches us to hate others,
Deceit will be our down falling.
It will tare us apart;
We are all prisoners of the heart
