A Smile-For My Son Poem by Fired Heart

I smile because I am happy.
From one side of my face to the other
Stretches a sign
That everything is good
And everything is fine.

Sometimes you have to smile,
Although you may not want to.
It is a genuine thrill in life
When you wear a smile that is true.

So make every smile worthwhile;
Bring it out from deep inside of you.

The more you smile the better it feels.
If you force them out
Eventually they become real.

I know sometimes it will be the last thing
You feel you should do.
Nothing is right; everything seems a struggle
And you will sincerely doubt
If you will ever pull through.

It takes great courage and strength
To put all the bad things aside
And believe you will come out the other side.
You have to believe you can do it;
And truly want it too.
A smile can fix anything
That comes from inside of you.

Don’t hate being sad;
It’s a part of life you have to do.
In nature there is a balance;
Remember that so you don't go mad.

So smile no matter what!
It does not matter what you have got
Or what you have not;
Do not become a victim of misfortune.
Wear a smile full of pride, stay positive
And the whole world will change its tune.
