A Spot On The Floor Where My Heart Used To Be Poem by Taylor Jones

A Spot On The Floor Where My Heart Used To Be

I put my heart into this
I reached down through tendon and gristle
and ripped it out
and threw it at you.

But I missed
and it went thwap! against the wall
slid down oozing
to the floor
where it laid there and congealed,

now there's a spot
which still remains
and reminds me of you
