A Thunder Point Sunset Poem by Francis Duggan

A Thunder Point Sunset

A beautiful mid April sunset of the southern Fall
To visualize in memory for to recall
Above the sea at Thunder Point in Warrnambool the sun setting like a giant red ball
Of my memories of natural beauty this is one of the finest of all
Where the sky was red above the ocean it faded away
A beautiful ending to a beautiful day
A magpie was singing in the gray of twilight
In the calm of the evening as day faded to night
In the prime of the Autumn with Winter quite near
Such beautiful weather for the time of year
The surge of the ocean the only living sound
As darkness was gathering above the high ground
A beautiful memory to cherish and to retain
And in times of reflection for to visit again.
