A Town Called Kenton Poem by Marilyn Lott

A Town Called Kenton

We spend the entire day at a town
Called Kenton, Oklahoma
A rustic little old fashioned place
The style was fresh and raw

Where the stage once passed
Right through the center of town
Quiet and peaceful and nice
A wonderful heart-warming sound

They didn’t have the modern stores
No, and there isn’t any still
For Wal-Mart is 60 miles away
If you love shopping it won’t fit the bill

We visited the community center
Had pot luck, the old-fashioned fare
So tasty and utterly delicious
And there was plenty for us to share

We were surrounded by real cowboys
Oh, what fun it was to hear stories
Of the days that are long gone by now
It’s a town with history and glory!
