A Tranquil Moment Poem by Joseph T. Renaldi

A Tranquil Moment

Rating: 5.0

Standing near a window gazing at the waking sun,
I envision a place where the land meets the sea.
My thoughts disintegrating like raindrops after a shower,
It's just the ocean and sand beckoning me.

At the water's edge, I can taste the salt on my lips
While the breeze sends sand blowing against my feet.
My toes squish the sodden grains between one another,
Leaving an uncomfortable feeling that I did not seek.

I can see dolphins gliding under the rising sun,
Energetic and playful in their massive pool of blue.
The seagulls seem to follow me hoping for food
While I stride through the beach among the scattered few.

I am facing the coastline of a beautiful seaside town,
And notice the Victorian houses so colorful and bright,
The quaint coffee shops and the exquisite, historical inns
With floral filled boxes and majestic canopies in sight.

The sun provides indescribable warmth over the town.
There are muffled sounds of a distant chapel bell,
Murmuring voices of merchants opening their shops,
Aroma of fresh coffee and bread baking ride the breezy trail.

What serenity it would be to live here on this shore!
But, everything was a dream - a perfect dream at that.
The stress in my life was replaced with tranquility,
And my love of the seashore is a soothing fact.
