A Very Old Man Poem by Dorsey Baker

A Very Old Man

A 98 year
Old man
stands on the corner
a shot glass
full of whiskey
the people pass
by
his eyes
they follow them
for just a while
they see his hair
that is totally white
and his face
is full of wrinkles
he can not
bring back!
his beautiful youth
or its endless energy
he can only
live
and enjoy!
what life he has left
and not feel
too much sadness
or worry about
when it comes to an end
