Accomplishment Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Accomplishment

A decision made to move,
In an entirely different direction.
Unknown by anyone,
What they will face.
Or challenges awaiting.
On a path stacked,
With obstacles placed.
Can be daunting to taunt,
Those less adventurous.
Unfamiliar to know,
The meaning of what pioneering is.
Or the concept of it.
Having faith kept to test.
And determination to keep.
In oneself stubbornly believed.
Even though the depth of this feeling,
Can be a frightening reality.
Again!

And yet...
Again.
Knees tremble.
Leaving one to do the best they can,
To keep from kneeling.
Or resisting to have them bend.
Not even for rest or contemplate regret.
Since this mission has taken,
Not only many sleepless nights.
But also denying...
Something to eat,
Would be nice to comfort one's appetite.

However...
One knows,
Even daily prayer and exercise...
Done.
Does not prove or guarantee,
Success will come.
Leaving someone like this,
Satisfied and pleased.
By what they have done,
To have accomplished it.
Left they are alone to believe,
Their efforts made to endeavor...
Could have been done much better.
To achieve.
The 'what' of 'whatever' that is,
Accomplished until the peak of it...
Has been reached!

"What is it that keeps you seeking? "

-Success! -

"SUCCESS? !
Success...
Of what? "

-That...
I wish I knew.
I don't know that,
Yet!
What is it?
Do 'you' have a clue? -

"Success...
Is...a...uh...
Success is...well...
The accomplishment of something! "

-Then...
To do what with that done to prove? -

"Uh...
Arriving."

-Arriving? Where? -

"To...uh...
Place...where...uh..."

-Exactly!
A place that objectifies,
What to who? -
