Adages Of Agdalán Poem by Taher Shemaly

Adages Of Agdalán

Between the eyes they were
settled the curvatures of time
And in the vibrant hand there
lies the diary of the old chime
No tick tock, no hands to steer
but a bent fellow of olden clime

'O son of age's ego just listen,
the song of time and its rings'
He said in a voice of a smitten
while a chronicle of time sings
The melodies of dust that sadden
and the wisdom of life that stings

'What are the kings O son,
and the princes of the nobles?
What are battles lost or won,
or wars raising out of bottles?
Live and die, and to life say goodbye
leave it with a good name...
is that of the nobles'
