Adieu Mr Felix Poem by Simone Harriman

Adieu Mr Felix

Rating: 5.0

I know you will wait for me
My old feline companion
Our spirits will meet
Under bluer skies
Somewhere under vibrant trees
Dappled gold 'n' red sunlit
Autumn leaves
You, ready to touch my hand
My heart
Or leap into my lap
To rub your head under my chin
Maybe you will race past me
Changing course mid-air
To land on all four to greet me
Effervescent eyes bright
Your magnificent young self
In your best tux
So full speed on life
And love

Stunningly beautiful and heartbreaking all at once Simone. It brought tears to my eyes. Succient and gorgeously penned. I too fell in love with Mr Felix. He has the most soulful eyes. Forever young. Thank you for this beauty.

i Googled nine lives of cats: “An old English proverb states A cat has nine lives. For three he plays, for three he strays, and for the last three he stays. This could be where the myth that cats have nine lives came from- though the proverb is not thought to be meant in seriousness. It's a statement about the hardy nature of cats and the fact that they give the most love when they are old- too old to chase mice and run away! maybe Mr. Felix will be waiting, ready to settle down with Mr and Mrs Harriman for all eternity! i'll be in the Hot Spot, so i'll probably never meet him. enjoy each other, again! ! i almost said these are my favorite lines: Under bluer skies Somewhere under vibrant trees Dappled gold 'n' red sunlit Autumn leaves but, NO! i like them, but ALL the lines i like! and the others speak more of the one you loved and still love. a lovely poem. THIS ONE shall go into JUNE's showcase, which is not 'under way' yet! ! don't let me forget! ! ! i'll pick another, not about a cat, to fill the vacant spot in May's showcase. Thanks. I'm sure you don't mind me stealing this one. and to MyPoemList as well! ! bri ;)

These pets have a way of taking over our hearts, don't they? And, oh, the hole they leave behind them when they are gone. May we see them again one day [but not too soon, not too soon]- -I am hoping my first horse Polly comes to meet me and my second horse StarKey comes to carry me to heavenly pastures- -that would be so cool.

Simone, Again, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. If I were a cat-lover, I'm pretty sure I'd be crying now. : ) Be well, Simone. bri : )

RE: Adieu Mr Felix Simone, though I left an extensive comment five years ago, I didn't really 'remember' reading this before today: one of the advantages (at times) of aging. I got to enjoy it again. bri ;)
