Affliction Poem by Caleb Crow

Affliction

As my heart and my mind do battle,
Laying in wait as I reach for the answer to life.
The cancerous silence kills me slowly,
While the heartbreak quickens me twice.

I learn the ultimate epiphany,
Known as existence, as I lean toward sanities break.
Fear not Rome, and its asassins,
For the snake lies coiled in Naples wake.

In life's stigma we are educated in the ruthless,
Torn by hedonistic possesion.
Teaching our childern the art of distrust,
Making love and compassion a situation for discretion.

Where is the father,
Has the mother yet left?
Fear has caused the wounds,
But the soul of man has not wept.

In the distilled motion,
Of mans cold and wicked heart.
I ponder the inconcievable,
Will I be used in evil's parts?

Six feet from the edge,
As I wonder what awaits me at the devils door.
Was it not me, who fell victim,
Listening to the adversary's lore.

Into the unknown I tread,
Will I succeed in my task?
Will I learn the secret of life,
Will I find the answer to what has been asked?
