Alien Within My People Poem by DOMINIC PREMPEH

Alien Within My People

My colour has pushed me away from my own race
They likened me to an Albino
They say I’m an Asian
And do not belong here

My stance on matters always makes me different
People say I’m point-blank
That I don’t mince words
And that is not our culture

Alien in my own land
Foreigner amongst my own people
I risk my inheritance
And whatever that makes me Black.
