Another One For My Mother Poem by DOMINIC PREMPEH

Another One For My Mother

Rating: 5.0

Mother became a single mother
When we had no father
She never had much money
But we never slept empty
She really suffered beyond repairs
And her death a regret
This is another piece for her

Born and bred local
She wanted to raise us royal
Her traditional name Asantewaa
And an Ashanti born on a Tuesday, Abena
She was cute, dark and beautiful
Not to her family and husband alone but all
This is another piece of her

Things went hardest, we felt it
She swept away pride, she dodged it
And did other menials, we saw it.
A professional teacher! She never cared a bit
Just for her children, she loved most
All had a toll on her strength, we knew it
And she died sighing, we witnessed it.

I wished she was alive
I would have cuddled her
Kissed her forehead and say
Sorry for your sweat and pains mum
But now I will say
Sorry for not enjoying from your sweat and pains
Asantewaa, this is another eulogy for you.

Death of a mother gives pain to a child. Sorrow is wonderfully expressed. Very amazing poem drafted.10
