All Over Again - Poem by Erika Wingo

Sometimes early in the morning
Sometimes in the middle of the day
Sometimes deep into the night,
It hits me
All over again
That you are gone
Sometimes it wakes me from my sleep
Abruptly
A sudden harsh reminder
A sense that something's wrong

Sometimes in the middle
Of a normal conversation,
You interrupt my thoughts
And tears emerge
Between my words
And somehow it always hurts
Deeper than the time before
When it hits me
All over again
I swear I can't take it
Anymore

    was loss due to death
    was it a broken heart
    we don't know.
But the pain we all know all to well (Report) Reply
