All That Does Matter Poem by Francis Duggan

All That Does Matter

The now is all that does matter as a truism remain
The meaning in this it's own self does explain
The past gone forever and the future ahead
And tomorrow will dawn as the wise one has said
Yes tomorrow will dawn but not for everyone
For no matter in life what you have achieved or won
For you there will be a last night and day
Since we are born to eventually die life works in this way
At the stroke of midnight today will have gone
And tomorrow will dawn and life for the living goes on
Time that has aged me will eventually age you
Make the most of the now this the best you can do
Who knows what the future for us will be
And yesterday is just one more memory.
