Nikki McAuley

Alone

Have you ever become so lost in thought
So concentrated on something
That the world around you seems to disappear?
Time stops
The people around you vanish
The sounds surrounding you turn to silence
And there you are,
Left alone with your thoughts
Peaceful for a while
Then one thought, one memory comes rushing back
To shatter the silence.

In this private perfect moments when we are afforded the escape from all of life's little distractions, it only takes one seeping thought to ricochet us back to reality...like a returning boomerang. Excellent poem..rated 10.

Poem of the Day

poet Sara Teasdale

I thought of you and how you love this beauty,
And walking up the long beach all alone
I heard the waves breaking in measured thunder
As you and I once heard their monotone.
