Alone Poem by rio monica canlas

Alone

I waited from sunrise to sunset,
While enjoying the tranquility beset.
Cool breeze gently pats my skin,
Embracing myself, looking blankly, seeing nothing.

As I walk along the shore
Feeling the sand I’m stepping on,
I suddenly become conscious,
Saw the footprints, sadly to confess,
I’ve been walkin’ alone.

Inhaled deeply,
Struggling to accept the reality,
Characters were hooked in my world only,
Didn’t know, I’m just in love solitary
Thus, playing the fairy-tale single-handedly.

Noticed a bench, but still too far from where I stand
By now, my knees are shaking, legs are cramping,
Finally exhausted from walking,
And patience is all I am asking, because this heart of mine is hurting.
I will sit there! That is what I am aiming.

Striding over the madness of the night,
Conceals my dead beat spirit
As I feel my whacked but still beating heart
I pray that it won’t halt.
Failed I may be
But I have to accept my destiny,
Open arms, I welcome thee.
