Ambiguous Moments Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Ambiguous Moments

There are places in which,
So many accept those ambiguous moments.
Neither defined nor direct.
Yet many will follow with unconscious minds.
Right behind them to place and blindly,
Their own footsteps to make.
And...
Without question or pause.
Or thoughts to cause them to think.
That perhaps what is ahead to perceive...
Is not an oasis.
But a ledge to have them leap.
Into a deep and darkened abyss.
Yet...
Told they will behold,
Something concrete to see, touch and keep.
Eventually.

Believe it or not.
With all that is available,
Providing information if sought to seek.
And within one's reach.
There still remain many people living,
Accepting ambiguous moments.
To then express regret,
For not speaking up.
Long after those moments,
From them have gone to then want to know...
"What in hell is going on."

"Remember telling me,
Something wrong was going on in the air.
And I should stay aware of it.
With a doing that to be prepared? "

-Hmmm...no. I can not say that I do.
When was that? -

"Maybe...
5 or 10 years ago?
Why do you stare at me like that?
I just wanted to say...
There IS something in the air.
And I notice.
How long has it been there? "

-These times we live,
With them wished to be explained.
Would be pointless to waste the attempt.-
