An Adieu To A Mother Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

An Adieu To A Mother

With the news taking to wings
along with her last breath
bereaved from allover
kept pouring in, day 'n night

Many eyes were wet, piteously
many whispered words mournfully
many hearts sobbed, not unusually
overt a loss unrecoverable, knowingly

A mother courageous and lovable
not merely for a daughter and a son
but to a fraternity, non-deniable
which whiffedher sweat, adorable

She bred a culture unto herself
to serve any one any time any way worthy
That's the legacy immortal, left behind
to hang on to, for generations

An ideal mother is parent not only to her children, but to everyone in her locality and the people with whom she comes into contact! Such a mother's departure will be grieved by all who know her. It becomes a common loss! There are some such gems living in our times. A beautiful tribute!
