Oh mother Teresa, as a missionary you came
To the city of Calcutta as a gift from God
To help the poor and homeless, and
To teach the world by own example
How to help our spirit-self by helping others
In your daily walks of life you saw
So many hapless and dying people of all ages
That your mother heart could not be aloof
So, you keenly embraced them in your bosom
You saw the plight of the neglected humanity
Of those begging for little food and attention
Of those victims of ill-fates in our society
Being punished only on account of being poor
Being mortally wounded
By the injustice and aloofness of society
You extended your hands to poor and homeless
To provide them the least
Like little food, shelter and lots of compassion
As the suffering humanity
Thus upholding the cause of human dignity
Thus you light up their mind and soul
And won their heart in return
And saw your beloved Jesus as divine sparks
In the soulful eyes of everyone
This way, Oh Mother,
You demonstrated to the whole world
That love is the real thing prior to money
For fixing social injustice and disharmony
At the dawn of our 21st Century
Now sleeping like a baby in mother’s bosom
In total communion with global hearts
You have joined your treasured Jesus
Lighting up the sky with your calming smiles
