And She Waited



And she waited- bit her lip
down the middle, fumbled with the invisible
ring on her finger, looked at the watch
that was not there on her wrist, waited
for someone she wasn't sure was on his way.

Perhaps he's stuck in a traffic that
hasn't materialized as yet.
