And Still I Wait Poem by Linda Harnett

And Still I Wait

And Still I Wait

And still I wait,
In love,
And sweet regret,
I wait for news,
To come,
It hasn’t, yet,

I write some words,
I listen to a song,
And wonder now,
Why did it all, go wrong?

I write,
Hello, how are you?
Doing well?
Just casual conversation,
Can he tell?
That love lies bleeding,
In between each line,
I lie and tell him,
Yes, I’m doing fine.

And still, I wait,
In love,
In sweet regret,
And write to let him know,
I can’t forget.

Love this touching and poignant poem - perhaps the words resonate with my own life experiences.
