Angels & Earthlings Poem by Varghese J Kuttikat

Angels & Earthlings

Singing is daring out at its noblest
Lost in the sweetness seductive
One may lapse into oblivion
That spells bliss both for the singer and the listener
Of course, songs can be of all sorts
Rhythmic beats set in cadences right
Could bring all angels down to Earth
Whispering among themselves mildly indignant
Baffled at the variety of strains precisely Human
‘O Lord, how these mortals excel us in resourcefulness
They sing of ecstasy and of agony and stirrings of variety infinite
Whereas we the celestials sing the same strain forever and ever
If this smacks of blasphemy, we beseech Thee, don't be hard on us
