The phone rings who is it
Nobody
the door swings open…
Nobody
an owl hoots in the night
Nobody
It's anonymous
I receive a letter
no stamp
I receive a request
no picture
I receive a tip
no change
It's anonymous
No is a powerful word! It can describe intent or lack of. Shifting the subject of no from an impersonal the within the first stanza, to a reflection of oneself in I in the second stanza, adds a dimension to this short poem that names the elusive element of anonymous; which is love hoped for but yet realized. Short but conveys strong images we have all have experienced at some point in our lives. I really like this poem!
I wonder what inspired you write on ths topic, anonymous. I wl be waitng 4 your explanation, dear.
Good write, but I did miss the question mark in the first line...
