Another Poet Begger Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Another Poet Begger

Rating: 5.0

Another poet begger
I didn't know the two went hand in hand
People compell me to understand
Since such is ramapant in this unfamiliar land
As a child whose day is unplanned
I stuggle for my freedom
and run from society's brand
People try to say it's natural
and not a crime
but the conclusion wasn't mine
if so, it's not the time
So at risk of reprimand
I jump out of the long line
without any lights to guide
I can hear my hearbeat harder
and my eyes are open wide
I'm sorry, I say
I don't see it the same way
I have to follow
What I feel inside
still many poet beggers
hellbent on vanity and pride
pull my dignity, as I find a place to hide
The day I beg for you to read me
will be the day I died
Because a poet isn't a begger
One excludes the other
and to two masters one can't be true
It's not my problem
The answer is inside of you.
Leave me out of it I say
your nagging is just a drag
and you're spoiling the pretty view
How good can your poems be..
if begging is what you must do?
