Apple Annie Poem by Larry Houston

Apple Annie

The syphilitic old hunchback sold pencils
burlap bag at her side
we rode bikes through town
stopping to yell obscenities
toss apples
pumping the pedals
laughing
as we rode off
and she cried
with frustration
apple pulp
and juice
dripping
down
