Are Dreams Escapable? Poem by Achim Wollscheid

In dreams is there ever a decisive escape?
Can one shake and wake?
Does it go on forever beyond the restraints of time
If one does not open the eyes?
Do they move and mend with the surrounding
Without feeling and emotion?
Is it like being dead, with the exception of the heart
That still has to beat,
And the bones that do not decay?
It was like this in a dream.
Felt like a lifetime had gone by
And still I could not open my eyes.
I had no feeling, and no emotion was on my face.
I did not even feel the beating of my own heart.
Almost thought I had died.
No matter how hard I tried, I could not wake.
Figured I was paralyzed if anything.
